Tutor Introduction

Everyone may have met your tutor by now. The person who picked you up at Morioka Station on the day of your arrival in Morioka City and brought you to the dormitory

However, who is a tutor? Today, we will introduce them to you.

It is hard to deny that the difficulties that most international students have to face when they come to study in Japan are a matter of language, the procedures that they need to contact various agencies, and also living in a country that is different from their country.

At Iwate University, we have prepared assistants for everyone. You can live your life without concern. During the adjustment period, you traveled from your home country to study at Iwate University. These assistants are tutors that everyone has already met. The tutor will be a senior in your department, which will help with various matters, including contacting government agencies, studying, and daily living. All tutors have at least one year of experience living in Morioka. Therefore, they can share their experiences and give you advice to make you feel relieved.

These are some assistances you may get from your tutor:

- Starting with taking you to contact the student dormitory to receive the key and some documents

- Bringing you to the international office to submit the documents

- Taking you to Morioka City Hall for move-in registration, National Health Insurance, and Pension

- Opening a bank account

- Classes Registration for the University, which includes filling out a paper or online registration form

- Getting student insurance at the University Co-op.

- Buying essential items for daily life

- Recommending various places both inside and outside the university

- Coping with the climate, Many of you may come from hot-weather countries and have never encountered cold weather with sub-zero temperatures. The tutor will be able to advise on how to prepare, such as how to dress and what precautions to take during the winter.

- Moreover, tutors can also give you advice about studying. How was each subject? Which semester do you need to register for? or will it be a research matter of interest? You can talk and consult with them.

Therefore, if there is any problem, please don't hesitate to talk with your tutor!
